Copy Of A Folder Doesn't Keep Its Original Attributes

This issue started happening a few days ago.

Now when I make of a copy of some folder to a different location, the "Date Modified" attribute of that copy of the folder is set to that exact time that the copy has been made. This didn't use to happen. Whenever I made a copy of a folder, that copy used to keep its original "Date Modified" attributes.

    Why is this happening?

    Hello,

Yes, I have installed some Windows updates within the last few days. Yet there's this one time where I tried it out just to see if it did the same thing, yet it actually KEPT its correct folder attributes. Then I tried it again a few hours later, and this copy showed the incorrect attributes (stated the exact time I made the copy). Why did it work just that one time, then it messed up again?

Well, I hope so; One of the reasons why I upgraded from XP to 8.1 was to resolve this little annoyance.

    Thanks for your help David

I believe the behavior you are seeing is normal. I have tried this a number of times with the same result. Usually this is what would be desired.
The rules that govern this are a little complicated and depend on whether the folder was copied or moved and whether it was to the same or different volume. I am not aware of any way to directly control this.

    Thanks for your reply LMiller,

I've had Windows 8.1 installed for a few months, and every time I copied folders to the same location on that different disk drive, I've never had this issue. This issue only started not too long ago.
