We have an Acer Aspire S3-391-6046 and one day it suddenly, after the Acer logo screen, started displaying:

Recovery
Your PC needs to be repaired
The Boot Configuration Data file is missing some required information.

File: \BCD
Error code: 0xc000000d

You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have any installation media (like a disc or a USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer

Press Esc for UEFI Firmware Settings

We have a recovery drive made but it will not boot from the drive, and when we press Esc nothing happens. In fact nothing happens when any keys are pressed. After about a minute of being on it shuts down again. Any suggestions on how to fix this, or force it to launch from the recover drive we made?

Welcome to Eight-Foums,

Did you make that recovery drive on USB Flash drive ? When PC is off and boot, try pressing F8 or F9 get you to Boot manager ?

Do you have recovery media, Windows 8 installation media ? PC you know have a recovery partition ?
