Not so easy when you don't have windows to reinstall. Mine came with the computer! I prefer the discs.
This is why Windows prompts us to make recovery disks when we fire it up the very first time. But sadly, most people don't. And while Windows also allows us to create a recovery disk at any time, we still don't. Nor do most consumers EVER backup their precious data.

Also note this is not Microsoft's fault. They are happy to provide PC builders with original disks, if the makers want to buy them. They have the option, but they don't want the expense - even though it is just a $1 or so each to press a disk. Instead, they get the image file and buy big volume licenses and just create new images on all the new hard drives. This way, they don't have to deal with costs, storage, transport and packaging of millions of DVDs, or pass those expenses on to consumers.

And the OEM makers could easily make original installation disks too and provide them with the PCs. But they don't as that will cut into their profits. And consumers demand cheaper PC prices now - even at the expense of convenience later down the road.

Not everyone knows how to make them. I don't. I also didn't have any blank discs to make them. I back up everything to external disk drive but it won't let me copy programs.

When I got my system shipped from its manufacturer (I bought it online), there was a slip along with the user guide booklet with a toll free number for technical assistance for first time setup. So I called them and they guide me through the setup - the first thing they asked after I powered on the machine was that to create recovery media immediately. I didn't have the USB or DVD then. So they told they'll call me up 2 days later and guide me in creating them & by then I could buy 5 DVDs.
That was one of my good experiences with HP

ASUS was my first non HP computer, and I might add, the LAST. It's foreign... not sure what country.. and the tech support is slow and lacking. I bought this computer summer 2013... fall 2013 hard drive went. I had to send it back. They slapped in a new HD and summer of 2014 it started getting blue screens of death.... I told them about and they said, sorry the HD was only guaranteed for 6 months. So while the tech I took my machine to yesterday thinks it's a virus. I think it's the HD. We'll see.

According to WOT - Best Removal is a scam app. Obviously it has messed up your pc - be sure to get rid of it.

Wait! Traditionally that WAS true - but it ONLY applied to running two "real-time" "in memory" programs at the same time. It has nothing to do with "on-demand" supplemental scanning as was suggested here. But regardless, today, avoiding running two in memory at once no longer applies - especially with MBAM Premium which is designed to work well with other programs.
    I learned something new.
    Thank you.

I have heard that wot is based on user reviews, not expert tested. Nonetheless that is not going to make any difference here may be.

lol Sorry Barbee but there is an excellent chance the motherboard inside your HP was made by ASUS, same with DVD player, and perhaps several other components. That's how ASUS got started, making motherboards for Dell, HP, Acer and Compaq.

As for tech support, sadly, that often depends on who answers the phone!

Well, they just refunded my money... I don't think they are a scam. Maybe I inadvertently downloaded something else. Who knows? The refund came from click bank. all one word. (when I tried to type it as one word it got censored. LOL)
