Can I save a default desktop configuration?

Hi all. This my first post and any help would be appreciated.

There's a default configuration I use when I begin a music/recording session. I'll post a picture below but basically it involves splitting elements of my DAW between 2 monitors and having references open in my browser and PDF (3 monitors in all). Does anybody know how to easily save this default configuration (or variations) so that it can be opened with a single button click?

Thanks David! I hope you're right and that somebody groks this. Somesort of elaborate macro is the only possibility I'm seeing and that's far from an"easy" setup. Apparently Macs can save their state upon powering downbut that's not even what I'm after. Wouldn't it be great to have configurations for work, gaming, music, etc and switch between them with one click ease?

A quick google found this which may help - not used the program and it's a little old but may be a start

Windows Layout Manager (WiLMa) Trusted Freeware download and reviews - SnapFiles.com

The search terms I used were "windows desktop application layout software" may help if this software does not meet your exact needs

    @ David
Ganesha for Microsoft CEO? I'll probably go post this question on the Microsoft forums as well and get them thinking about it if they haven't already. Thanks again for your kind replys.

    @ Barman
Thanks for that and I'll check it out. I don't recall running across that program when I googled the issue so perhaps I need a rudimentary search term course

In earlier versions of windows the opening size & position of program windows could be set by simply setting the window how you wanted it and Shift Clicking the Close Button - this facility seems to have been removed whith the release of vista, about the time that Multi-Monitors became popular.

It's not something a lot of people would use so I can only assume that Microsoft had issues with retaining the function on modern set-ups so removed it

I'd read that quote but it's very interesting to watch so thanks David

I downloaded Windows Layout Manager but so far I haven't been able to get it to do what I described in my OP. The instruction manual displays no content in Windows 8.1 and so I continue to look for an online version. I've been able to get it to size one IE window properly but you have to manually launch IE and select the desired content. I'm not seeing an obvious way to launch multiple IE windows of different sizes and magnifications using the app and one save file. When I try multiple save files the resulting windows are changed from my selected parameters to the point of being useless. I'm certainly not going to give up without even reading the manual but the initial results aren't promising. Searches for alternatives don't look too promising yet either so...the battle continues.

You should be able to write a batch file to start your applications

Command Line Reference for Windows 8 and 8.1

    and the specific command

Start (this is the server info but works on Desktop too)

You can also use the actual website address as the start-up parameter and as long as the default is to open with IE this will open a number of separate windows pre-loaded with the site open

Simply create a text file with the start commands required on separate lines and save with a .BAT extension - you can then create a short-cut to this Batch File
