Hep with laptop going to sleep

Hey I'm hoping somebody here can help I have a windows 8.1 laptop that goes to sleep and requires a password after 30-60 seconds(same way a phone would) I have changed the settings in power options to never sleep and to not require a password on wake up but it still dose it but if I put the laptop to sleep it wont ask for a password. I have looked around the net and seen to use gpedit.msc but I dont have that and editing the registery dont work either there has to be a way to diable this BS for F's sake on my phone i can tell it to never lock/turn off the screen why cant I do it on my laptop??
Really hope somebody can help or its back to win 7

seen to use gpedit.msc but I dont have that
sure you do, right click on the windows icon lower left corner and open RUN ,type in gpedit.msc .and try what ever you seen suggested
