    Add search bar to Desktop

I was wondering if there is a way in Windows 8.1 to add the search bar to the desktop to be there constantly? Similar to the search that Apple provides on their OS. I tried using address in the toolbar however that doesn't search everything.

Hello Nullogy, and welcome to Eight Forums.

I don't know about a search box on the desktop, but you could add a search shortcut using the tutorial below that will open directly to that.

Thanks so much for providing this!

Is there a way to change it to "Everywhere" vs. ""settings"?

    You're most welcome.

Hi all, I'm a pretty proficient Windows user (and Google-searcher) but I can't seem to solve this one: Windows 8 search refuses to search items in my control panel. For example, if I tap the windows key and type "power options" or "Sound" I get nothing. I'm pretty sure this is supposed to...
