Hi Guys, I've had terrible performance from my Windows 8 laptop, so much so that I cannot watch youtube on one tab whilst using another tab to google search. What happens is a massive blurring of the audio and a slow down and freezing of the laptop. I have good specs on my laptop (6GB am) and know the performance is inadequate- someone please help! I have a screenshot of the Task Manager for help troubleshooting. Regards, View attachment 53404View attachment 53405

Make sure that all your Windows Update are up to date.
Consider updating to Windows 8.1
Uncheck any programs starting up unnecessarily in the StartUp tab and what anti virus program are you using and how much RAM do you have.

I have 6GB RAM and I use Kapersky. Even uninstalling the anti virus has no effect on the performance. To be honest, I don't want to upgrade to Windows 8.1- I did that once already but did a factory reset due to issues with the laptop- and it set everything back to Windows 8 again....

How do you find out what is in the start up tab?

Thanks

So you don't know what repairs Sony did other than restore it to Factory conditions. l see no reason not to update to Windows 8.1

I've tried updating but this is what I get for a very very long time ^^. It appears this happens when a previous update to 8.1 has been disrupted. So I think I'll just go and send back the laptop to Sony- and they can also fix my headphone port at that too.

Thanks guys!

This happened to a new laptop of mine too. But it was with Windows 7, and the problem was a defective hard drive. Could be they just resetted everything to factory w/o checking up on the hard drive. A hard drive need not malfunction in order to be defective. It could still do its job, but very slowly... If you have a spare hard drive, try to swap it and see if that's the problem. Then, get a replacement for it ASAP while it's still under warranty...

The laptop still seemed slow, so much more so than my old Windows XP laptop. I sent it off to Sony (the manufacturer) and everything went back to factory settings. There was in fact some improvement in performance for a while, but flared up again a couple of days ago.

So you noticed. XP is by far the best crafted OS by Microsoft. Doesn't matter if you're running next year's Broadwell processor with DDR4 RAM. XP will blow 7/8/10 out of the water so long as the machine has drivers for it...
