As I mentioned, too many at one time and the computer goes nuts.
When it is finished reverting changes go back to the updates and hide them then unhide 5 at a time in sequence. This will solve the rebooting problem of installing the rest automatically.

I understand. I just was not aware that by turning the computer off that it would automatically start updating. Could I just refresh to get back on the computer then do the installs? Should I wait for it to do what it is doing? Last time I waited for this I waited 2 hours and it was still reverting changes.

You should wait for it to finish what it is doing. That is why we recommend installing 5 at a time so if it does have to revert you will not have to wait long. By hiding all the updates and selecting 5 at a time if the computer needs to be restarted it will not install the rest all at once.

Ok. After it looping and looping through the same thing I refreshed the computer and went to search for updates. It now says...
    Install new windows software
Sometimes windows itself needs to be updated. To continue youll need to do this now. Your automatic update settings wont change at all.
To finish installing this update windows update will automatically close and reopen.
Then it has an install now button.

Did you refresh the system again contrary to my instructions? If so, you have to start all over.
Do not try to install Windows 8.1 before making sure that the Windows 8 updates are installed.
Run the Windows Update troubleshooter again and download the updates again. Install 5 at a time and do not reboot the computer until all the updates are installed.

Ok. I did that then did 5 and it instructed to to turn off the computer for then to take effect. Did that. It did what it had to do and came back on.
