From Windows 7 I get the "Windows cannot access \\Speedy"

I am on a Domain and I see the Windows 8 computer listed (Speedy). With the Remote Desktop I can connect, but I cannot connect via the Domain. From Speedy, I can access the Windows 7 folders.

So I am missing something in my setup on the Windows 8 desktop (Speedy).

    Suggestions...?

    With appreciation...

Odds are this isn't a domain. Maybe a homegroup, but a domain requires specialized software. That said, one of the steps that frequently gets left out of instructions is that you need to have matching username/password combos on each system. So if, for example, "Speedy" has a username/password combo of john/smith then any other system you want to share files with (and not be prompted to login every time) need to have a user account "john" with password "smith".

I am logged onto a Domain according to this screen:

So I appear to be missing some other setting.

Then you should be talking to the domain admin, not us.

Do you have the drives/folders/files shared? Sorry if this was a dumb answer I don't have any experience with Domains what so ever and probably should have just deleted this reply.

Domains are different. The whole point is to provide central management of these settings, so if the OP starts messing around with things they're likely going to have a very annoyed domain admin coming by to ask them some pointed questions. Plus, one of the benefits to being part of a domain is there's someone who manages all of this stuff and you get to go bother them to fix it when it's not working.

My apologies to all! The Windows 7 computer is/was not made a member of the domain! Time to suspend my computer drivers license!
