Help needed fixing corrupted files

Hello all,

I recently noticed my PC failed to complete an software update and a message not to turn off the PC while the attempted update was removed. Shortly after I began to get a number of error messages and found a number of programs will not open.

I've run sfc /scannow in both regular and safe mode and get the following result
error 07.jpg

I've run DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and got this
error 08.jpg

I have log files for both of the above but not sure how to upload them. They're both
txt files but when I use the paperclip icon I've had no success. (Too big?)

View attachment dism.log

When i try to run system restore I get this
error 06.jpg

PC settings will not open at all, all I get is a flash of a blank purple screen.

Task Manager populates a list but won't let me do anything with it (command boxes are blank).

In the middle of all this mess, my internet connection has gone all to hell. Not sure whether
this is related to the corrupted files or not.

Will be happy to provide any additional info I'm able to. Any help greatly appreciated.

Ran chkdsk /r c: and went to 10% complete and it hasn't progressed any further in nearly four hours. Is this long normal? Should I allow it to continue or stop and try something else? What is the correct way to end a chkdsk in progress?

Thanks again - J

chkdsk /r will take a long long long time. Be patient, I've have seen cases it will hang at one spot for hours trying to record & mark all the bad sectors so Windows will avoid using them.

Update: the chkdsk did indeed take it's own sweet time. When I just checked on it my PC was sitting at the sign in screen. Went ahead and did a restart. While starting up a message screen flashed twice something that looked like - ":( Your PC has encountered..." - it went by so fast I couldn't read it. Then it read something about "Automatic Repair" and went to a very dark blue blank screen. I can heard the hard drive cycling. Hope to hell that's a good thing...

Thanks again for everyone's help - J

If you are able to log in again then open the Admin command and run 2 commands below:
  1. dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
  2. sfc /scannow

The computer stayed on the "Repairing Disc Errors" screen for about 20 hours... Will attempt the DISM & sfc anyways.

Well, ran both with no apparent change with PC. Received a slightly different message and a different error code after the DSIM:

error 06.jpg
