Task Scheduler tasks run in background

I have recently upgraded from XP to 8.1. With XP, I had tasks scheduled that would automatically start Outlook, Chrome, and a specific file in Excel open before I got to work and logged in. When I logged in, I didn't have to wait for all of these to load saving me some time. When I upgraded, I scheduled the same tasks, but they would not start. I checked the task manager, and I noticed that the tasks were running in the background, but I had to manually start them to get them to work. I have attached a text file of the xml: Firefox Task.txt

Why can't I get the tasks to run in the foreground?

See Create Scheduled Task in Windows 8 Personally I would just place a shortcut in the "Start" part of All Programs for the desktop. There are some issues still not resolved if you are trying to do stuff from the Metro/Start screen interface.

i'm not sure if this question has been asked before and if it has it would be appreciated if someone could point me in the right direction :) But my question is, is there a way to have programs running when I lock my Surface Pro, and if so how would I do it?
I've added task manager to my scheduled tasks at logon. Everywhere I google, they say to put the /min or -minimized arguments in it to launch it minimized, except neither option works for me. Task Manager launches, but just sits there on my desktop. Is there a new argument for minimized in...
Task scheduler is set to trigger a few tasks once every two weeks - specifically, to open a certain web page in Firefox. It works, except it doesn't seem to know that it succeeded, and it launches the task again later (seems like is obeying the 2 hours retry setting). Any idea why it wouldn't...
Solved Deleted maintenance tasks in task scheduler in Performance & Maintenance
So I deleted maintenance tasks in task scheduler (Microsoft>windows>task scheduler) because I didn't want to have automatic maintenance fire up when I'm working, but sadly... some shit got messed up. My computer starts using hdd at 100% if left idle, and then freezes and all kinds of weird crap...
Bad tasks in task scheduler in General Support
I upgraded from Win 7 to Win 8. When I open up task scheduler I receive several messages saying "The selected task "taskname" no longer exists". How do I remove these dead tasks? I assume they are left over somehow from Win 7.
