The only thing i did after installing Win8.1 was to configure deep sleep/hibernation and USB devices wake-up.

The computer is still not waking up with any USB devices.

Then i installed the updates and the driver, and tried again wake from sleep. Still not working.

Next step is to re-install Windows 8.0 and check if it's working. I've read a lot of people complaining that they can't wake their computer anymore after upgrading from 8.0 to 8.1

It is a shame that 8.1 isn't even able to handle a function as basic as waking a computer from sleep, something that has been around for over 10 years.

I assume then it did not even work on Windows 8.0 either, did not say. Yes, kept coming across this about Win8.
Now you do wonder about the new board replacement, if make a difference.

May have to live without the sleep function. It does work with Power button ?

It used to work with Win8.0 before i upgraded my motherboard.

I am currently formatting and re-installing Win 8.0 to see if it works. I'll post when i finish testing it.

Can't live without sleep function, my HTPC is in the closet and i have to use keyboard to wake it.
I also need the wake function for my XBMC remote application on my tablet to control the HTPC from bedroom.
It is an advanced HTPC setup with a lot of scripts using the wake function to open the HTPC and do some tasks.

    Final result:

Can't wake the computer even after downgrading to 8.0

I'm giving up with this motherboard. Will wait until i can RMA it. If it still doesn't work, i'll ask for a refund and try a Gigabyte or Asus instead.

O.k. must missed that in readings of this post that it did work with Windows 8 before with other board too.
Hope system has good cooling and closet has decent ventilation. Well then good possibility of certain boards or there BIOS causing it too.In your case hoping was a bad board.

Let's see what happens with New Board. Hopefully someone here can figure it out. I am as determined as OP is when comes to figuring out something that worked and now doesn't. I feel your frustrations. If it is Windows 8.1 which some research shows, maybe a update may cure it.

yes but if I am reading it all right ,it was a different motherboard when it worked with win8 ,not the new board
Yes it was a different motherboard and APU

Old setup (wake from sleep was working with Win8) :
    BIOSTAR TA75M+
    AMD A8-3870K

New setup (can't wake in Win8 or 8.1)
    MSI A78M-E45
    AMD A10-7850K

All other hardware stays the same:
    2x Samsung SSD Pro 256GB
    1x WD 1TB Black
    2x GSKILL 4GB ram @ 1600mhz
Seasonic fanless power supply (400w or 450w, i don't remember)

Ok, so let's not jump to conclusions that it's 8.1. In the wake of the OP's last post, I'll bet it's the MoBo and faulty design. Personally I don't see too much of the "wake up" issue that a BIOS update or a configuration option doesn't fix, unless you can point me to some references.

When it comes to the non-sleep issue in 8.1, MS released an update back in December of last year that fixed the problem for most. No one could prove after the update that it was the OS that causes the problem, but rather it may be the configuration of software including drivers or hardware configurations. Indeed a lot of variables involved.

Now with the dawn of 10, we are getting closer to what may be the cause. A one svchost which opens dlls is not closing on some systems to allow sleep. Why some systems do or doesn't close it remains to be known. MS released a 10 update addressing the issue also, yet some continue with the problem.

Well i did also mention way back about drivers and software too. Not carved in stone yet because i read about Windows 8.1 and sleep issues, just came across enough people with same issue saying it maybe.

I received my replacement motherboard today. As suspected, the new motherboard have the same problem and my computer can't wake.

I kept insisting to get support from MSI. They released a new BIOS update to try to fix the problem, but it didn't change anything.

Not sure what else i can do, beside returning both boards for refund and trying another brand...
