    Cpuid-cpuz??

A late friend of mine who was one of the ones that taught me a lot about computers told me to download CPUID-CPUZ to see what my system specs were on my computer. He told me how to download and install it, without installing all of the PUPS or programs that install with the software.

I have it installed on the Windows 7 Laptops, but I need it installed on my mom's Windows 8.1 desktop.

Can someone direct me and help me download it without all the PUPS, and other programs from downloading?

I've used "Speccy" by Piriform the same company that makes "CCleaner". It shows your system specs and doesn't have PUPS. There is a free version you can download at the following link:

It seems to be a lot more user friendly than CPUID-CPU-Z. Not, that I didn't like CPUID-CPU-Z, but Speccy does seem a lot more user friendly.

The only drawback to Speccy, in Windows 8 and 8.1 it shows an incorrect Windows Serial Key for your computer if it is embedded in bios. The Windows Serial Key is encrypted within newer computer bios.

Is that something I should worry about?

Speccy isn't working on the 8.1 computer.

If you forgot your Windows 8 or 8.1 key and need to recover it from the bios, then it's a problem. Fortunately there are other newer utilities that can read the Windows Serial Key embedded in the bios.
