The command only appears to hold the last thing that woke it up. Checking it just after it unexpectedly wakes up is best.

Popeye, I suppose there is a possibility of a Task causing something, but it would normally be listed in the -lastwake command....

Maybe the cat is walking across the keyboard...

Lol, or a ghost wanting to get online. Hopefully he figures it out.

I have checked my Task Scheduler and have 45 items in it.
Some like Adobe Flash Player and Google Updater appear to trigger every 1 hour. Which one, if any, of these 45 items are waking up the computer is the unknown.

I have also repeated the above test to find which item wakes the computer -and got the same answer - - -

    Instance Path: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_8C31&SUBSYS_06221028&REV_05\3&11583659&0&A0
Friendly Name: Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 0100 (Microsoft

On Device Manager under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" - I have found -
USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 0100 (Microsoft)

So what is this USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 0100 (Microsoft), can I tell it to stay asleep when instructed !!

I cannot be alone, out of the millions of Windows 8.1 users there must be others who have this problem.

A quick update - I have woken up my computer just now (on purpose), from Sleep Mode by pressing a keyboard key, and then ran powercfg -lastwake command, and I get exactly the same result !!

Do you think the keyboard is active in some way when the computer should be asleep. Its a odd sort of question to ask ??

The Keyboard is new, 6 months old if that.

I think, for testing, I would unplug all USB devices while asleep, even the printer.

You bios may have an option concerning USB and waking the computer, you might check to see if you could change such an option for testing.

Normally waking, like you seem to have, are caused by a Network Adapter or somehow through the network. Just in case it isn't a basic USB device, you might also disconnect the system from the network before you put it to sleep.

Edit: As far as the tasks go, you might check the ones you found and see if they allow waking the system. If one does then it could be responsible although I still feel it is related to some USB device.

So very kind to help - I have added below my Task Scheduler so you can see some of the 45 items. I have not knowingly added any myself - I think most of them are Microsoft defaults-

Many thanks for input, hopefully we will find the reason sometime.

I do want to rule out however the cat walking over the keyboard as suggested earlier. I only have a small budgie (peter) and he stays in his cage admiring himself in his mirror.

None of the Adobe or Google Updaters will actually wake your PC. They don't have access to that.

I agree with unplugging any USB stuff just for a test. See if it still happens. At least you'll know if it's your external hardware or not.
