Stuck in "Right click mode"?

This may be perfectly normal but every now and again I hear a sound notification and the app I am working in no longer operates correctly.

When I return to the Start Screen the tiles (including the app screen tiles) show a tick in the top right when right or left clicking. The tick toggles visible or invisible with each click. And thats it! The only way I can get out of this is to restart the machine.

It acts as though I have unwittingly put it in a some sort of mode that I really don't want! Any ideas anyone?

What antivirus if any are you using?

it sounds like malware or hijacker

Spybot Search and destroy, and MalwareBytes antimalware are excellent programs for this.

I use Spybot on mine and my sisters' Windows 7 laptops. It's a good program. But, I have yet to figure out how to install it on my mom's Windows 8.1 desktop without downloading and installing other programs? Any suggestions?

I am using Windows Defender. Do you consider this inadequate?

I think it depends on how you use the computer ,if you are a careful user of the internet ,yes it adequate, if you are not careful of what you open in emails and on sites you visit ,no it not adequate in my opinion

it all depends on where you download it from ,some download sites add other programs to the install ,but they usually give you the option to not install them along with spybot . filehippo is usually a good site to get programs ,but just make sure you read things that come up when installing it .click only on the link to download the latest version green icon top right of this page in link
Download Spybot Search & Destroy 2.4 - FileHippo.com

edit- I just downloaded it and installed to test ,and no other programs were installed with it ,good luck

Sorry for late reply. My thread seems to have got hijacked and got confusing. I have further noticed that this phenomenon occurs during copy and paste (using ctrl) with Word 2003. It may be something to do with that.
