Ive tried the dell disk, downloading the drivers off of the AMD site and it still gives me the exact same error everytime. Im trying to get the CCC to install so that I can switch the display to my HD out port.

Here is what it tells me:

Version of Item:10.0.937.2
Size:90 Mbytes
AMD Display Driver

I have a Dell Inspiron M5010, trying to install for AMD Radeon HD 4650. Thanks

You do not need the Catalyst Center to use your computer.

That says your driver install failed, that is different from CCC. You should get the driver package from the Dell site.

EDIT: Are you sure you have a 4650 graphics adapter? A quick search shows a 4250.

That probably won't work since an old CD and not for 8.1. You are going to have to find 8.1 drivers for the 4250.

Quick search shows that there are no drivers, AKA, AMD doesn't give a crap. Sounds like I may be better off going back to Windows 7.

What driver is it running off of now? A basic Windows Driver? Probably not going to get HDMI to work with that. The only possible thing is go into Device Manager and select to update the driver. Then the let me choose option and see what shows up. Try any/all that appear.

EDIT: Found modded drivers here: ATI Catalyst 12.11 Beta 11 Modded driver For Legacy GPU - Guru3D.com Forums

It says the drivers are installed. On W7 I had the CCC and that was how I switched it.

Everything installed that time. Im beginning to think the HDMI port is junk. Tried 2 different HDMI cords and neither one even recognized it was connected.

I've had it for about 4 years. Made dell replace the motherboard when it died 4 days after the warranty was up. What have I learned? Never buy another dell again. Thing is a worthless pile of junk.

Laptops are a crapshoot unless paying $1000+ and even then nothing is certain. I cheap out with Acer and take a chance.
