DISM tool continually finds corruption

A friend has been having an intermittant issue with a Win 8 app so I've run the DISM tool. When I run it, it says it completed successfully, and "the component store corruption was repaired". But if I run it again immediately, it gives the same message. I've rebooted too, same result, four times now. I've also run sfc /scannow, it does not find any errors.

Any ideas what is going on?

Thanks

Have them run chkdsk /f from elevated command prompt. Reboot and let it run. Will take awhile, probably over an hour, for large drive.

Hi theog! When I first got my laptop I had the same problem and chkdsk cured it. Drive tests show it is fine. Only thing I can think of is some bad sectors that didn't get flagged during manufacturing or it got knocked at the Acer site while they were building it.

Anyway, no problem in over a year now. :)

I ran chkdsk /f. It found some minor errors and repaired them.
It only took about 5 minutes. It only ran stages 1-3. I generally run chkdsk /r, which is all 5 stages, not familiar with the /f switch, I was expecting stage 4 too.

But the DISM tool still produces the same message.

I am working remotely, so I can't run any hard drive diagnostics from a boot disk.
I went to the Lenovo website, downloaded/ran their Storage/Hard drive Diagnostic. It came up clean in all 6 categories.

Thanks

Not the right one if only took 5 minutes. Should take much longer. The drive has to be offline for it to run the whole thing, that is why have to reboot and run before full system loads.

EDIT: Try offlinescanandfix as described here: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/6221-chkdsk-check-drive-errors-windows-8-a.html

EDIT 2: Not sure you can do this remotely.

EDIT 3: It actually may be the chkdsk /R command. Sorry, I get confused between the different ones myself.
