"DUDownload" folder taking up C: space

Hey all..... I noticed yesterday when I tried to install Adobe Creative Suite that my new SSD C: drive was only showing around 50GB of free space left, when I know that there should be around 130GB left.

I installed TreeSize. Here's a screen shot.

There's 96.3GB in a "DUDownload" folder which is inside a hidden folder. The largest file is 94.6GB(!!!) "Reserved.DynamicUpdate"

Could someone please shed some light on this and possibly recommend a solution? I'm thinking it could be the update to Windows 8.1 (which I've postponed a couple of times) but nearly 100GB for an update seems a bit much...

I'm running Windows 8, clean installed about 2 weeks ago onto a brand new SSD. I want my space back!

Have you run disk cleanup? It looks like upgrade files.

Thanks for the comments.

I ran Malwarebytes and it didn't find anything (except something in the DaemonTools .exe ???) I didn't want to buy Superantispyware but I did a scan with my antivirus (BitDefender) and it found nothing either.

Any other ideas? Google doesn't seem to have any answers :( and I'm a bit cautious about just deleting massive files.

You could make a restore point or an image with Macrium & get rid the big files & see what happens.

You could also rename the folder, something like DUDownloadXXX then reboot and see what happens. If nothing then delete it.

You do not have to buy Superantispyware, there is a free version on this page: SUPERAntiSpyware | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware!

Did you run these in Safe mode? If not do that first. Then run them in normal mode.

If you find nothing else, I would do as suggested above, Rename the folder to something else and reboot. Run for a few days and if no problems are encountered delete the folder.
