Network printer spooling (problem?)

    Network printer spooling (problem?)

I have a color printer on the network. Printing a page from a website takes "forever". Actually it never finished. The page is about 1MB. Looking at the DU Meter Stopwatch the data rate on the network was about 250 Kb/s. Printing exactly the same page from my computer (the website is mine) was very quick and the data rate was about 8 Mb/s. My download/upload speeds are 10 Mb/s and 1.5 Mb/s. I don't have this problem with Windows 7.

I suspect this is a quirk of the beta Win 8. Any thoughts?

You say there's a printer on the network, but that doesn't necessarily mean wireless or not.

Microsoft did release a patch on Windows Update for USB printers recently, which would be good to install.

Otherwise, people claim success by disabling bi-directional communications with the printer from the printing pc. There is a setting for that in the printer's properties.

WOW!! Thank you. That solved the problem. I wondered why there was so much up/down data transfer shown on the DU Meter.

    I love this forum.

Glad to have given you the info you needed. I suppose the people with issues helped better by actually telling us the solution(s).
