Windows 8 64-bit OEM Install Upgraded to 8.1 through Store

but when I did a fresh install i boot to win8.1 dvd deleate all partition and format the entire drive
caperjack I am aware during clean install there's an option to delete all partitions - Windows will create all required partitions including one for OS. Questions are:

    1. Whether at this stage OS partition could be further partitioned?
    2. Could this partition be 150 GB and sufficient?

    Thanks

I would like to step in, briefly. When I first encountered the UEFI system, an factory installed computers (Dell, as it happens, but similar to your partition setup), I was unaware of some of the consequences of attempting to change the oartitions. As a result, I ruined to afctory restore, before catching on.
May I advise you, before you attempt any of the excellent advice here, to make a complete image (Macrium?) before doing anything.

By the way, there is an excellent tutorial in that section:

At this point I have nothing important on this system - I do have HP Recovery USB

I have this bookmarked and went over and again but it didn't address OS partition size

Question remains - Optimum size of OS partition as I don't want to keep on experimenting

    Thanks and regards

    Look into recimg.exe:

    Code:
    C:\>recimg /?
Configures the recovery image Windows uses to refresh your PC.

    RECIMG.EXE <command> <arguments>

The recimg.exe command line tool lets you configure a custom recovery image
for Windows to use when you refresh your PC. When you create a custom
recovery image, it will contain the desktop apps you've installed, and the
Windows system files in their current state. Recovery images do not contain
your documents, personal settings, user profiles, or apps from Windows Store,
because that information is preserved at the time you refresh your PC.

You have a mSATA set up

    Thanks both

I'm still looking forward for Intel RST resolution

possible solution would be to go to control panel /administrative tools /services ,and scroll down to Intel rapid storage and turn it on
