blue box out of no where

when putting the arrow to the top, another bar....what ever you call it. in the upper left hand corner is a big E.
and what ever web page i'm on is what comes up on the screen. but I would put several photos across the top
of different bar (the one with the house, star, and gear is on). so when I put the arrow on the big E, a bunch
of small photos show up. allowing me to just touch the photo (with the arrow) I need for that page work it would fill the screen. just moving the arrow back and forth moves each photo into view.

but now when I touch the big E a big blue box drops down. when I touch the photo on the box, the blue box blocks
half the photo. how do I get rid of this blue box so I can get back to the same speed I was working at?

What application are we talking about in the first place? If you are talking about the Internet Explorer Metro app, really cannot see what you are talking about, without a photo of the screen.

Metro is that Fugly Interface that Microsoft created as a start screen for Windows 8. Metro was created, to try and make everyone think that they were using a tablet, when using Windows 8. Even though the Desktop is still there.

As for the standard windows 8, there is no such thing as a standard with that OS. Majority of us are used to working in the desktop on Windows 8.x.x. That is why we always ask people to clarify which interface they are talking about in Windows 8.

8.1, just means that you have the Service Pack update to 8. As for figuring these things out. Explore the OS, Get to know the OS, by clicking on things. There is actually some good information that Brink has in the Windows 8 Tutorials

I grew tired of the whole Windows 8 interface. Because I got tired of all of the oddball changes that Microsoft kept implementing. That is why I ended up just going with Xubuntu on my laptop. I still work on Windows machines for family and friends. Especially when my son comes home from school and has me "fix" something on his laptop.

The biggest change I found with 8, is that it handles memory a lot better than 7. Since I have grown up with the whole Desktop experience and did not want to deal with the tablet type interface. I loaded up Start8 on my laptop when I had 8 on it, before going to Xubuntu. Start8 brought back the original Desktop interface. No more having to go Windows Key "D", or click on the Desktop Metro app.

Metro/start screen depends on Active X & Java for it to work. So it ends up eating a lot of resources when you are in that first layer. Also there are problems in the Metro/start interface, that Microsoft refuses to correct. Which I and others firmly believe is because of the large hatred by those that have grown up around the desktop.

Now if you load Chrome or Fire Fox on your computer. You can set those up to work either as Metro App's, or just in the Desktop. They actually work much better in the Metro Interface. Also behave in Metro, as if you are using them in the desktop.

The reason they pulled it, was because of the fight between Mozilla.org & Microsoft. This link from the Wiki, tells you how to run it in Metro. https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/Win...Simultaneously
