I open a picture it says Always ask before open this file

Every time I open a picture it says "Always ask before open this file" ... over and over again, even when I uncheck it.

It never did this before till I had my computer reset to factory default at the repair shop. I am using Windows 8.1

It does it on about half the pictures that I have. Can someone help me please? It is so frustrating because I am working on a project and having to open lots and lots of pictures.

Open File - Security Warning : Allow or Prevent to Unblock File - Windows 7 Help Forums

If that doesn't help my other suggestion is turn UAC off.

Hi, I have a similar experience but with an .exe file. I solved it by right clicking on it and selecting Unblock this file.

    Good luck, werty

Option 1 in this tut will only work on the per file basis, so if you open another file with unknown publisher it will ask you again
Option 2 will not work if OP is running standard Windows 8 since Group Policy editor is not available.

To actually turn off all the naggings for different filetypes. You'll need to make a change in the registry as shown in the screen shot:
Note: If the key does not exist then you have to create one.

For reference, an alternative for those with no Group Policy Editor:
    Group Policy Search

I personally don't get the Taboo about turning off UAC. To me a popup dialog that one reflexively hits OK on is next to useless. But to each his own.
