    Corrupted Windows

I was messing with imageres.dll and shell32.dll and eventually those files got corrupted and now Windows wont start (blinking black screen). Ive fixed this other times it has happened from advanced options at boot with the Refresh your PC option except that this time I cant because I get the following error:

Additional free space is needed on the drive where Windows is installed. Free up some space and try again.
I tried Automatic Repair, but it doesnt recognize the problem. I also dont have any system restore point. Safe mode doesnt work.
Im thinking my last resource here is on the command prompt, which I can open from advanced options. I attempted

    sfc /scannow

    and got

Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service.
    sfc /scannow /offbootdir=c:\ /offwindir=c:\windows

    and it got stuck.

Im getting really nervous because I simply cant lose the files I have in this computer!!!

I was thinking maybe there is a command I can write on cmd that allows me to explore files among my documents and remove them so I can free some space and do the refresh option???

did you make backup of those 2 files: imageres.dll and shell32.dll before modifyfing them ?
If you did then boot into command prompt and copy them back.

Are you running 32 or 64 bit ?

    64 bit.

Is there no way to explore folders from cmd? I have about 9GB of free space as of now, I can think of a file I can erase that will free about another 6... that would probably be enough to run Refresh.

The space is not the problem and as you said, you knew the 2 files you modified were messed up so all you need is to replace these 2 files and try to reboot.

The problem though is that I have no access to the original imageres.dll and shell32.dll so I cant replace them.

And space was a problem because I couldnt use the Refresh your PC option due to low space on disk. And I said was because Im fixing the thing right now, what I did for anyone with the same issue is I ran Advanced options pressing Shift + F11 as the computer booted and from there I opened the Command Prompt and wrote:

RD /S /Q "Path of a folder you want to remove"
With that I removed a big folder I had and didnt need anymore and so I had enough space to run the Refresh your PC option from the Shift + F11 menu which is running right now and most probably will fix the issue.
