Windows 8 makes me less productive. It's not even (directly) Metro's fault.
    ...
This I personally think is symptomatic of a bigger problem within 8. Yes, the OS is faster and more responsive. However, everything takes longer to do!
It's based on the idea that user productivity is measured by mouse clicks.

More mouse clicks = More productive

    Hi,

    Does it come with a built-in "Click-O-Counter" ?

    Cheers,

Everything you stated is basically what makes it not bad but annoying. The network thing has been bugging me since I first used it. It just makes it awkward the network "window" is metro but the other stuff is not. The thing is it feels half-baked with elements that clash. I just hope they do more work and find a real better replacement if they are going to remove the start button. The fact is right clicking at the left corner is just awkward and feels like it takes much longer just to do the same as before. Plus it's visually unappealing. Also when you hover over the left corner the screenshot of the start screen pops up which to the beginner and average user will not indicate right click this corner area. Besides having a "hidden" button all the way at an odd corner is just awkward and not user-friendly at all.

Yes, it's the same version as what installed automatically It's only minor bugs like all the images in Outlook 2010 emails have stripes. I'm sure Nvidia will update the drivers again soon.

You are doing something wrong, it doesn't take me anymore clicks than Win7, apart from the shutdown/sleep that takes one extra click, 3 instead of 2

I put 8 on a 2005 laptop that my brother uses. It is decent and plays 1080p videos no problems. He only uses it for Firefox and knows nothing, really nothing at all, else.

I went to show him the new Start menu. He didn't even realize the old Start is gone because he never used it all.

The first thing he said to me about the new Start was "I'm not gonna use it" lol

Try doing a start menu search for anything thats not an app. An extra click. Try reaching Network and Sharing Centre. Try reaching the goddamn control panel!

Yes I know you can make shortcuts. Yes I know there are workarounds. My point is, not everyone will do this. I'm working on the basis of "default" as most people have their PC's set up. I'm also comparing to Windows 7 default. Everything just takes longer to get to. I've actually fallen back to using the Desktop again. I can't even remember the last time I used the Desktop on 7. Everything I wanted was pinned or available via search.

If you right click the network icon you can easily access Network and Sharing Centre, I think one needs some time to get used to it.

You have to remember that this isn't final. The puropse of this Cinsumer Preview is for the general userbase to try it out and see if there are any serous flaws or bugs that have to be corrected. I wouldn't be suprise if these complaints have already beeen resolved for the next release.

I've had this new machine about 10 days. I did a system restore several days ago, and there were several restore points to choose from. De-bugging/crash in BSOD Crashes and Debugging
I have been having some crashes as of late. My screen goes red, and then the computer resets. I am thinking that it may possibly be memory related. Any feedback/ Input would be helpful.
I bet others have this too. Windows 8 continues to ask me over and over each update session to update to Bing Desktop. I don't want it, never will. Seems in XP you tell a specific update to leave you alone if you never wanted to see it. Have we lost that in Windows 8? Thanks! Jack ":-D
Solved This has been bugging me.... in General Support
So I am running Windows 8 on a non-tablet device and I want to check the device manager to see if a driver update is available. I go to the start screen and click control panel. Then it takes me to this tablet-friendly "baby's first control panel". I then have to scroll all the way down to get to...
