Hello eightforums, I accidentally formatted my 1TB internal NTFS hard drive today while battling with a dual boot system. What is worse I dropped and broke my back up hard drive 2 days ago.
I am now completely dataless and have lost all my photos documents and videos since 2006
I formatted using the Windows 8 disk CMD Prompt, diskpart, self vol 2, clean (and poof whole hdd formatted not just the partition) but luckily I immediately turned off my PC to protect what it had left.
Can anyone guide me through a way to recover data from the unallocated space on my internal hard drive, without walking over what is left (maybe a live boot cd that is good for this tasks?).
Should I make an image of this hard drive onto my friends 1TB hard drive. I know that whatever I do I must not override the empty spaces on the formatted hard disk until I salvage everything I can.
Please help I don't want to make another mistake and never get anything back. My back up HDD has had the click of death over the last 2 days and is not detectable with any cables or cases I have used.
