    Task Bar size

My task bar on the desk top in Windows 8.1 has suddenly increased in size and now covers one third of the screen. How can I reduce this back to the single line.

    Unlock it & drag it.

The task bar wasn't locked and attempts to drag or reduce the size have failed. I've tried locking and unlocking and a search through the properties screen but with no result. I can auto hide the task bar but really want it back as the single line as it is used frequently

You really did this and it did not let you resize the taskbar?

I was using the computer (a tablet) as a touch screen and that did not show the bi-directional arrow. I've installed a mouse and key board and have been able to fix the problem.

Many thanks for the advice Kari

You are welcome, good to know you got it solved. Lock the taskbar now to avoid involuntary resizing.

Size of everything in Customization
Hello, everyone: I'm currently using Windows 8 and love the new interface and stuff, but I'm a small stuff freak so I'd like to make the size of everything even smaller than the 100% setting on this direction "Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Display". Is that possible? Thanks in advance.
Hi, Not sure if this is the right board, but I'm keen on accessing the aforementioned box directly rather going through task manager due to the run as admin check box, but I can't find the file location. I prefer using the run dialog usually to access apps because I could do without extra effort...
I wanted the desktop to be easier to navigate so I increased the font size to 125% as suggested by the OS however it looks like this increases the metro start screen's resolution making the tiles and text smaller. Anyway to change the metro start screen size back to normal while keeping the font...
