Hi to All,
I just got two brand new TOSHIBA laptops, loaded with both norton and mcgee trail software. I do have multiple paid version of ezet that I want to install. Whats the best and easy way to do this. I,m also learning win 8.1 now. so,not tooo clued up in using it. Can I just go to control panel and let WIN deals with uninstalling. I do not like the idea of downloading extra tools to take care of this, but also do not want to harm the laptop

Thank you in advance.

Norton is not the only program that leaves "leftovers" - many programs do. If one tinkers with software it might be wise to use a third party uninstaller. Revo Uninstaller is my personal choice. Another to consider is IObit Uninstaller.

Revo is just fine for uninstalling ordinary programs but AVs are too deeply embedded so if possible their own uninstallers are best.

Most larger applications do not fully uninstall themselves. In many cases this is quite difficult to do and there are some gray areas where there are questions about what should be removed. You can't ask the user because even an expert is unlikely to know. There is also the unfortunate tendency for developers to spend only limited time on uninstallers. Why would anyone want to uninstall my superior software?

In the case of AV software the remnants left behind can cause problems. Programs like Revo Uninstaller can help but likely not enough. More than likely a registry cleaner would only make the problem worse. The suppliers of AV software usually have software to completely remove the product or they may publish manual removal instructions.

Stay far away from anything by IOBit.

You mirrored my sentiments exactly. All is true, even down to IObit programs.
