    Built in laptop CD/DVD drive not detected


    Please help! My cd/dvd drive is not being detected by my laptop. It is getting power but is not being detected. I tried the cd and hardware Microsoft fix-its and the hardware troubleshooter. Nothing works

    No it is not detected at all. I even tried pulling it out then puting it back in but it is still broken.

    Well, it probably is broken. You did reboot right? Could also download VSO Inspector and see if it recognizes it. Kind of doubtful though.

    I did reboot multiple times. If I forgot to reboot and it worked after a reboot XD.

    It did not. I just booted it up with the disk drive removed then shut it down, put the drive back in then booted it back up and it works!

    I would get a hold of Lenovo and see about shipping it to them for repair. How long have you had this unit? If it is within the warranty period, they should cover it. Also dust or something may have gotten into the connector, which caused the problem. Removing it and replacing it, must of dislodged whatever was in there.

    I always use Canned Air to blow out those connectors, when I suspect a problem like that, before ruling out faulty hardware.

Hard drive error detected in Drivers & Hardware
hey all, i recently started seeing the attached error message- i'm guessing that this is a hardware failure and not a Windows/software issue that can be corrected somehow? just want to confirm before i start the process of replacing the hard drive. i'm using Windows 8 Professional 64 bit....
i know my dvd drive was working a few weeks ago cause i used it to load up shogun 2 total war. My bios recognizes my driver but i dont see it any were in my device manager. Any help would be very much appreciated BTW i was running windows 7 and had no issues with my dvd driver Update i click...
When I look the control panel the CD/DVD does not appears, but in the setup you can see that the DVD is working. Before I had win 7 and it work well.
i have a Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD drive that is not detected by windows 8. the same system also has winXP and win7, which detect the drive. the interesting part is the drive was used to install windows 8. why is windows 8 not detecting the drive?
Since pretty much all of the laptops have awful sound cards in them, I would like to buy headphones with sound card implemented in them. Do you have any ideas? My budget is about 90 dollars.
