I use my computer to make a living in freelance design. I'm way behind and this had to happen....

i tried to download a clean copy of FireFox because I got one of those annoying (who ever uses this kind of advertising should be shot) browser bugs called wowcouepon. Gerr.... I tried to uninstall it, couldn't find it. I uninstalled FF, that didn't work. The horrible pop ups were on chrome too. I got a bright idea.. System restore. Now I have nothing but a solid blue screen. No message, nothing, just blue.

When I reboot it looks fine, I can see my wallpaper, but when the user screen comes up it flashes off so fast I can't click through.

please Help me. I need to get into my computer

I assume you have 2 computers ?

You might try Macrium Reflect Free Edition to create a rescue disk.

I'm not real sure what happened... I couldn't get in to download or back up anything. I opened it in safe mode looked around a bit.. didn't see anything amiss... shut down properly in safe mode and apparently the ozone loop it was in, rebooting from safe mode fixed. I'm back in now. What a relief :D

Thank You for attempting to help me. I know where to come from now on;). BTW Is there a way to do a system restore by choosing a specific restore point in 8 like Win7? I thought that was what I was doing but didn't realize I was reverting to a factory default.

I haven't had Win8 very long - It certainly is a horse of a different color, so to speak.

Now... if you could help me fix an incompatibility issue with a site I built using Wordpress v3.8 - after they did an auto upgrade to 4.0 today and a clients web site went bonkers. [pulling out hair] I got into this mess trying to find out how to suspend Wordpress auto updates. I like to make my own decisions, Thank You :)

That's why I asked if you had another restore point.
You could have, on booting, pressed Ctrl+Alt+Delete to pull up Task Manager & clicked File/New Task & typed in rstrui.exe & pulled up system restore & chosen another restore point to restore to.

Reverting to factory specs is good though.
You can start with a clean system. :)

You can manually create restore points or set it up to create one on a schedule---

screenshot_136.jpg

I use the paid version of Macrium Reflect to make system images.
It was well worth the money. :)

edit--- I don't make restore points anymore. I can safely depend on my backup images.

I use the paid Standard version because it supports a Boot Menu interface.

Wish I didn't have to reinstall my my programs again though.

Thanks! Greetings from Bristol

I've visited Bristol several times. :)

With Macrium you will never have to reinstall anything again.
Everything is saved to usb.

I'll get it. I hate to say how many times I gone through this over the years.

Was in your neck of the state this past weekend. Took a weekend jaunt to Fredricks MD - That's why I'm behind, should have been working instead of running up and down 81.

Thanks Again David! Your the bomb! :dinesh:

Watching for it....:thumb:

Here it is.
Sorry in advance for the poor quality of it.
I'm no expert video maker.---
I suggest watching it full screen.
