After I changed the username Win8.1 search for the old

Hi guys, I changed my username following the following guide ( microsoft account - How to rename user folder in Windows 8? - Super User ).
Everything has worked fine so far apart for the the desktop version of Windows Update. My knowledge is pretty low about this things but for me it's weird that I can access the metro version of the Updater but I cannot access the desktop version.
    I receive this error -> View image: 2014 05 05 11 02 36 C Users user App Data Local

I hope that something can be done to solve it! Thanks for your help

The best thing o do is create a new user set up however you want.Transfer all data to the new user profile then delete the old user completely.

Ok, this isn't bad. I didn't think about it. However if fixing it without moving anything is still possible, I would prefer. Otherwise I need to do in that way.
    Thanks

The superuser instructions are incomplete. I suggest you make a new user as described above but if you want to risk it you can try this (it worked for me but probably the user name is stored elsewhere and I haven't found it as it didn't crash yet).

    To rename USER1 to USER2
    1. Backup
    2. Create a new local admin user called TEMP
    3. Sign on as TEMP
    4. Rename user folder USER1 to USER2
    5. Replace all references to USER1 with USER2 in registry. I had about 50 if I remember correctly.
    6. Edit configuration settings .ini files in C:\Users\USER2\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneDrive\Settings\ and replace USER1 with USER2 where found.
    7. Reboot and sign on as USER2
    8. Delete all libraries from file explorer and then recreate default libraries (right click)
    9. Delete TEMP user.
    10. Delete and recreate all fingerprint data if you use it.

You may have to update default save locations etc depending what other software you have installed.

Alright! This is what I was looking for! A good reason to use the simple method proposed by pcgeek11! XD

Guys thanks a lot! You're super!!!
