none of the Linux distros finished the installation when bot of them where almost finished both threw errors .Could they still change the mbr
Yes it still changed the MBR. Along with made those drives EXT4. You are going to lose data on any drives that are partitioned as separate drives.

You do not need to hex edit anything. You just need to use Gpartd and then repair the MBR. Restore, Fix, Repair Master Boot Record in Windows 8 | 7
I tried the steps on the link but still can't see the data on E: and F:. E: has all of my Games

Run a Ubuntu DVD as a Live DVD, to see if it even sees anything on those drives, when it mounts them. It is possible that they were wiped out, when you started the install. Running Ubuntu as a LiveDVD, will not change anything on any drive. It will though help to allow you to figure out how far into the install you went. Along with if there is any data still on those drives.

In Ubuntu E: seems to have an Ubuntu installation that doesn't work(I tried to boot E and F: doesn't even appear on Ubuntu. When i tried to install Ubuntu and elementaryOS I selected small partitions of the drives why it fu^%&*^&* the whole drive.

Then the drives have been formatted during the attempt to install Linux. This is why you make images of the drives, before you do anything. Consider it a lesson learned, and all you can do is start from scratch, installing those games.

When you get things back to normal, make an image backup on all drives. I use Clonezilla for my laptop. Doing multiple drives, means multiple times of running the program. One image per drive. EaseUS Todo Workstation is a better cloning program. It would handle your setup with no issues. Just make sure you have enough storage space for the images.

Just installed 8.1 on one of my machines. The 100 mb "system reserved" boot partition is showing up as drive E in the drives. It does not show on my other Win 8 machine. Why would this be? It's not hurting anything but it's kind of annoying and in the way. Is there some way to hide it? Thanks...

After the recent updates, half my drives are showing as raw in win8 disk mgmt. Win 8 Explorer wants me to format them. They are fine - all ntfs - show up correctly in Paragon HDM12 and work correctly when I boot into win7. Anybody else getting similar?
