How To Remove "Downloads" Folder Under "Computer" Tab

I recently installed Windows 8.1. I didn't like all the folders under Computer so I registry tweaked it to remove all the libraries folders. However, later on, I accidentally dragged the Downloads folder from Favorites onto the Computer tab and now there's a Download folder listed under Computer (but only shown in the navigation pane). Right clicking shows no option to remove it. Its stuck there. HELP !!!

Hi,

Thank you for the reply. I tried the .reg file from Option Two - 5. To Restore the Default Downloads Folder Location.
However, this didn't seem to work. I even restarted, but the Downloads folder still remains under the Computer Tab. I don't know if this will help you understand it better but, the Downloads folder under the Computer in the navigation pane only shows when I open something within the actual Downloads folder. Otherwise, its not shown.

Hi ! I've tried everything in the first link ie. the reg file as well as the cmd prompt.
I also followed the link to remove all folders (I have 64bit Windows so I used option 2). Nothing worked. :'(

You could try searching the registry for the Downloads folder GUID and posting the Key names that contain it. We could then check ours to see if one does not agree.

{374DE290-123F-4565-9164-39C4925E467B}

But you have confirmed there is not an entry in this key?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace

Ok. Let's see if downloading and merging the attached .reg file below will remove it for you now. It should remove it.

Here is it's contents.

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{374DE290-123F-4565-9164-39C4925E467B}]

Hi. Thanks for the reply again, however, an error popped up after attempting to merge the reg file. Untitled3.png

Do you have the Downloads folder set as your default save to folder for your browser? If so, you should change that before trying to remove the Downloads folder.

It looks like you are trying to merge the .reg file in the folder that you are trying to remove. That won't work. You'll need to save the .reg file to your desktop, and merge it from there instead. :)

Could you go over exactly how you dragged the Downloads folder into the Computer folder? Right now, I am blocked from doing so.

You might also say what registry tweak guide you followed. If you don't want to post it in public, private message me.
