    ToshibaSatelliteL850-Y5310 8.1 does't boot autorepair fail


    My Toshiba laptop after auto updates is not booting. I used windows 8 backup dvd but still not booting. I tried automatic repair using the dvd but it failed. Can somebody help me set it right without loss of data on the laptop? thanks.

    Change the boot order in the BIOS that the DVD boots first.

    Thanks for the prompt response. My problem is not the boot order because after failing to boot from the HDD it automatically uses the dvd to boot. I get the various options including advance options. Thereafter, automatic repair fails. Command prompt used to check the various drives does not reveal anything. The only option I have not tried is reinstalling because this would erase the data in the laptop.
