I decided to bite the bullet and do a clean install of Windows 8.1 PRO X64.
I have a shortcut for my user folder pinned to the taskbar.
Shortcut target is "%windir%\explorer.exe /root,%userprofile%".
Prior to the reinstall when I opened up the folder via this shortcut there was no change in the taskbar, and any subsequent folders opened appeared under "Recent" when I right clicked on the shortcut icon.
Now when I open the user folder an additional explorer icon appears on the taskbar and subsequently opened folders appear under "Frequent".
Is there a setting somewhere that I have missed?
PS: I also tried with target = "%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe shell:UsersFilesFolder"
Made no difference to the behaviour.
