    Taskbar appears on Metro windows

After a recent Windows update I now have the desktop taskbar appearing when I go into Metro apps.
It's annoying because it often hides some on screen info.
I prefer not to use the "auto hide" option and I have not enabled the "Show Windows Store apps on the taskbar" option.

It's normal after 8.1 update 1, many were asking for it.

    Thank you!

    That fixed it.

    Interesting footnote:-

After setting "Animate windows when minimizing and maximizing", I enabled "Show Windows Store apps on the taskbar" just to check what happens.
The taskbar now appears in auto-hide mode on metro screens which may turn out to be a handy feature.

I registered literally just to say thank you for this fix. This has been bugging me for the past couple of days now.

It's just unfortunate that the "fix" involves enabling unncessary animation. It also doesn't seem to fix it 100% of the time but it's certainly much better than it never hiding at all.

I prefer not to use it on the desktop, but it may be useful when in metro apps.

If you ask me, it's better to have taskbar on autohide, specially when it's on the bottom. To use anything on it, like switching between applications or to start some, you have to bring cursor to it anyway and it will raise up. In the mean time when not needed it does not cover part of the screen. Only time it gets to be annoying is when program has it's own taskbar and they get mixed up.

I have searched far and wide over google, But I cannot find the solution to this issue. I even opened the help document for windows and even it tells me to go to Taskbar and Navigation to show metro apps on the taskbar. Well this is what it looks like for me: 48004 Apparently there's supposed...
Hi there Metro apps CAN be pinned to the desktop or added to a cascading menu via a custom toolbar so it's only a question of finding out what the executable is. You can mix these with standard apps too. This method works and DOESN'T NEED any 3rd party apps or Registry hacks !!!!! ...

hi there, just got my new yoga 2 pro-- really happy with the laptop, and also pleasantly surprised with W8.1. Definitely has a MSFT level quality to it (ie functional, but no strong eye to usability) Anyways, while I have been pretty happy with the Metro interface (yes!) I have been trying...
