I was just "covering all bases".

There are a lot of weird comments floating around in W8 discussions.
    Statements like, "Metro is modern."
    WTF?

Agreed about the weird comments. Whether Metro is modern or not is in the eyes of.....

The comment I find most weird is 'embrace the change or get left behind'.

So I guess I'll be one of the 'left behind' mob then. Oh big deal I think not.

    It is human nature.

Repeat any old rubbish often enough, and people start to believe it.

    Hitler was good at that.

Some people are less susceptible than others.

I don't think Herr A.H was the only one

Some people nearer to home maybe like a certain Mr Bush from Texas seemed also to go down a similar route -- although most people thankfully in Europe just gave up on him.

    Other ideas :

"Smith and Wesson always beats 4 Aces" ==> You WILL like W8 or else. ...

Best quote was : to all Startrek lovers -- SevenofNine's statement " You WILL comply !! YOU Will be absorbed" ...etc.

Sometimes also you hear some sort of Scrobbity parents who relly have no idea in controlling their kids trying to get tough and say "You WILL eat this AND LIKE IT".

No for the life of me I can understand them making somebody EAT something --but forcing them to "Like it" --- I wish I knew how to do that trick. !!

    Cheers

The line was "You WILL be assimilated" and I for one will not be unless Microsoft bends a little. When it comes to 2020 and EOL for Windows 7 and assuming I'm still alive, I shall for the first time ever, go "MAC".

In the words of another sci-fi character when talking about the current Microsoft line of thought, "It's not logical".

This is another fiasco like Windows Me. Nothing will persuade me otherwise.

    Likewise, Ex-Brit, but not Mac.

    I'll go open-source.

Some flavour of Linux probably, assuming it's still around.

But I refuse to be locked into Microsoft, and will NOT be forced into the 'cloud'.

I tried one flavour of Linux, can't remember which one, and didn't like it too much I'm afraid. It seemed to me to be too much like hard work, just like Windows 8. A system is supposed to work for the user not the other way around.

    Linux is OK:
If you are happy with what the software repository offers you,
    OR
If you are prepared to learn all of the Terminal commands and syntax.

Most GUI Linux distros are probably better at web browsing and Facebook, than W8 (the very things that W8 supposedly excels at).
They are safe from Windows OS malware.

Of course several distros now suffer from "Useless Modified GUI Syndrome" (just like W8).
There is a lot of b******* about Gnome3 & Ubuntu Unity.

That's something I'm not prepared to do.
