Is anyone on here happy with windows 8?

Calico, you are correct in what you say. What I meant is that MS didn't really release the 8 Preview in order to see if it works (it does). They released it to get people used to the Metro interface and to see what features are liked and disliked. They already knew that it is going to work.

    Hi,

What MS should do is give people a choice iso of forcefeeding Metro and its apps down our collective throats.

As someone else mentioned before, that start up screen is just a joke as a lot of regular apps put several links on the "regular" startmenu where they're out of sight untill you actually look them up.
On the new startscreen you just don't know where to look first when you need something as it's all smack in your face.

And yes, we know you can "organise" it but it's still not organiseable enough and why should you spend time doing that anyhow?

Ironically, the only links that actually look O.K. on the startscreen are the newly put icons. Certainly not those two dimensional cold and lifeless tiles....

I know, I know, it is getting all a bit long in the teeth....

    Cheers,

How about the thought that one day all windows user by millions is in one big basket as it always require us to login with "Microsoft" account to have the tiles and apps run?

    Is it that obvious?

Leaping the tech into that sophisticated integrated huge system is a bright idea just like what always been thought in any sci-fi stories. But when there are things behind it considered as monopolizing order, unlawful usage of any personal data, rip out all privacy and privilege then I better choose to stay less civilized.

    Android or Desktop?

When I first opened Windows8, I thought I was having a kaleidoscopic nightmare and had switched on my Sony Experia Android iPhone with a giant screen. I almost tried to call someone already!

The Sony iPhone is half a phone and half a computer, and like most hybrids, good at neither. After all, who wants to view web pages or write a word document on a screen the size of two match boxes? Especially if you're eyesight ain't that good! And Bpay accounts when you can't print a hard copy receipt.

Now I'm being asked to perpetrate the insanity by buying a computer operating system that is half a computer and half a phone.

If I was a gambling man I'd be over the moon, because I would have just won the quinella of stupidity!

yeah I kind of already removed win 8 and replaced it with a ubuntu install so now im with win 7,xp and ubuntu instead. 8 just didn't make me want it enough, il'l wait for win 9 or when ever Microsoft fixes this disaster Not that win 8 is bad to say but I just didn't like it to much. To similar to the way win 7 works with a metro slapped on the interface and a start button ripped off its design. Although I do say there was some performance improvement and some features they changed I liked but not enough to make me want to buy win 8, they need to try harder to get me.

Kevin itís more than that, the US government with the patriot act will have access to your data, even if the Microsoft servers is located in your country, as their law say they can go in any servers own by a US company anywhere in the world. The good news is from Europe, they refuse this idea of US government spying their citizens and corporations, they donít want Microsoft implant the system without guaranties, and Microsoft canít give them those guaranties.

That sounds scary. Do patriot act granting US Gov that totally wide access.? Why is it? We have our way dealing with terrorism anyway. There still should be an agreement bilaterally I think.
The funny thing is, it reminds me about the opposite thing happened here to our government (Indonesia).
Last year our government demanded RIM (Blackberry Server) to establish remote server in Indonesia with the reason it would reduce the BB user subscriptions. But RIM Canada implicitly ignore it as they found out our government was going to make their chance spying people through that server. (you know corruption here just like infection or epidemic). I don't know the update stories about it.
