I'm about 75% desktop - 25% metro.

I've got a 2-in-1, Lenovo Yoga Pro 2.

Metro Apps you mean ? Only one live tile (weather) used, rest is just a giant Start menu for my desktop applications. Yet to find any useful Apps for which there's no decent desktop program.

Similar to OP, about 70 to 75% desktop remainder in apps

Mainly the news type apps, News, Sport, sometimes pin Xbox Video to side while reading these and watch a film

And I do like the Bing Maps preview, works very well with my Windows Phone keeping saved locations in sync

Hi there
99.99793281% Desktop - the rest Metro (that's when I enter it by accident rather than by design. !!!!

With proper re-sizeable windows and some decent apps I probably would use it - currently there's nothing in there that appeals to me -- News would be one - but I can have a continuously updating SKY NEWS on my desktop in a re-sizeable box which is much more convenient. I can watch etc while I'm working on other tasks -- with the current METRO arrangement that's nearly impossible with full screen / half screen etc.

Not yet an 8x user, but I support my buddy's PC with 8.1. I have him using the desktop with IO Start Menu 8 100% of the time. I would certainly follow suit if I were using Windows 8.1.

Hi there

You CAN actually install those games from Windows 7 - they work fine and are standard Windows apps ( Re-sizeable windows and not Metro) if you play these things. (Classic Windows 7 games). You need a W7 disk to install though. I prefer these to the Metro versins -- also can play these while doing other things at the same time - and hide of course if the Boss appears. !!

Here's Spider Solitaire from Win 7 on W8.1 -- I like Hearts too.

How can install those games from Windows 7 (I have a W7 DVD)? I tried just copying the .exe file but that didn't work. I'd love to get the Win7 games installed...

Pretty much 100% desktop. I do use the pop out side bar when clicking on the wireless tray icon quite a bit. It gets you to a lot things that require the Metro interface to get to.

On my desktop, 99.99% desktop. On my laptop with a touch screen, 99.99% desktop. I hated Windows 8 for two days until I discovered I could ignore the "start" screen.
