What format are your music files? Did you rip your CDs to MP3 when you put them on your PC? If you are trying to play another file format, like .wmv, it depends on whether or not your music player supports that file type. It also depends if the file format doesn't allow playing on another device because of Digital Rights Management (DRM).

The best thing to do is to rip your CDs to MP3. Most audio players support that and there's no DRM involved. Check your settings in Windows Media Players to set it to rip to MP3.

Yes, what is the error, but what 'player' are you referring to as your 'music center'? Is it a home theatre, a car stereo, another PC? It really depends on how old it is and what file formats it supports. A model number would be very helpful.

Hi there

How did you transfer your Music CD's to the USB.

Normally Audio CD's have the format track1.cda etc. You need to RIP those into discrete tracks like song1.mp3 or song1.wav or song1.flac and then copy THOSE songs to the usb device.

If the CD already has data song1.mp3 etc then copy say one of those songs to anywhere on your computer and see if that plays. My suspicion is that you've copied the CD image rather than the proper audio tracks to the usb.

Another issue -- I'd go for VLC these days rather trhan windows media player - it can play so many more formats - as well as commercial (encrypted) DVD's too.

A possible side issue -- was the CD made with stuff imported from ITunes or DRM'ed in any way -- I really LOATHE the whole idea of DRM'ed music -===>what's the point of Music if it can't be played when, how and where you want it. If it is DRM'ed you'll either have to EXPORT from old PC to new device with the original program you used to get the music / make the cd or find some way of "De DRM'ing" it -- unfortunately going further on explaining how to do that is against the Forum rules.

Cheers
