    Not Responding & blinking screen

Annoying, tried all the fixes, no luck. Chrome & Photo viewing are the worst. Clicking mouse several times sometimes fixes it. Any ideas?

Welcome to Windows Eight Forums, Bobarry.

Weird that clicking the mouse several times fixes it. Have you tried a different mouse and/or keyboard, assuming it's a tower PC. Could be a driver for those.

Perhaps a faulty video card or driver.

Please either post your system specs or fill them out in your profile so as to better help you.

Sorry, forget to mention it's a brand new HP all-in-one with 8.1. I did several adjustments involving pagefile, etc - someone said it was a memory problem (I have 8gb). I don't recall if it happens with other programs. It looks like it's switching between the desktop view and the running program.

    Thanks.

With 8GBs of memory it shouldn't pagefile unless you have an awful lot of programs open. Could be that one or more of your memory sticks are bad or not seated properly. Did you run a memory test?

If it's under warranty, you may want to get it serviced.

    Hi there
Often the simplest solution is the one that works.

This sounds very similar to what I once had when I had an HDMI cable connected to an external TV - until I'd set the TV to accept the HDMI from the computer I kept getting the flashing screen syndrome.

    Cheers

Geez, I've been around since computer memory was invented, and FORGOT to do a memory check. Thanks! No HDMI on this one. More later...

Wow, that's some extended memory check. A little more complicated than the little memory check programs I wrote in the 70's. No problems found. My solution: tap the mouse button several times and it stops.

I would try another mouse to see if the problem stops.
