    Restore after reboot issue

After a while I noticed that whenever I restart my computer, startup would go to what they were before, and files like saves would roll back to an older version. This is the first time I've seen this, and a migraine was developing right tehre and then.

Researching, I found a fix to someone else's similar issue which required sfc /scannow, which doesn't even work for me. It says it found corrupted files but can't do anything about it. I found out that you need to start the comp in safe mode. I can't even do that... msconfig.exe doesn't work in the boot tab and the shift-click restart method seems to trigger black magic where any option I pick just restarts the computer and starts it normally, not doing anything.

Please help me, I'm getting a migraine.

Not sure what you are talking about, is it problems with Windows Update?

In the elevated command prompt run Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Then run the sfc /scannow command.

    Reboot the computer.

To clarify the issue, basically whenever I do any action (such as changing startup, downloading or editing files), the next time I restart my computer everything I do is reset to what it seems to be back to 11/7/14 (going off of windows update). I originally thought it was a windows update issue, but after updating and restarting the updates were reset and basically windows set back to 11.

Your command works, and it fixes the corruption, but I figured that it isn't the problem, because when I restarted it still reset and now I still have to do that command again.

Have you seen an issue where any actions on a computer is reset to a previous time after restarting a computer?

Failure to Configure Windows Update will revert changes to the way they were but not when you are downloading or editing files. Either do a repair install or reinstall Windows altogether. Back up your data first.

My attempts to repair install seemed to fail, as it apparently cannot connect to the internet...

So I tried to refresh and then tried to reset, but by the same black magic that's stopping my computer from running in safe mode, every time I click on the option to reset the computer (when you shift-click restart to go to those options) it just restarts my computer and doesn't actually try to reset it. This is getting extremely annoying.

Now I have tried refreshing within windows and not the boot method. I get the error "there was a problem refreshing your pc. No changes were made." Same error for resetting.

When I looked further and found tips, there was something about a recovery drive. I get an error there. "Some required files are missing". The apparent solution to that is to get an ISO for the recovery. That just brings me back to square one (in my last post, the ISO was what I needed to do the repair install)

At this point all I want to do is reset my computer to factory, and I can't even do that. I think I have gone to the deeper stages of migraine development.

Captain's Log: Nothing is possible. The best I can do at the moment is backup all my files on my external hard drive and restore them after restarting. Can anyone seriously help?
