HP Windows 8 to 8.1 up-gradation error

So my laptop came with Windows 8 in it
earlier also i tried to install windows 8.1 through Windows store but it would get struck at setting up 82%
i tried 3 5 times but failed so i gave up the idea about that and was using 8
Just few days ago i purchased Watch Dogs and installed it on my laptop and it got closed after first mission stating Watch Dogs has stopped working
Upon googling i came to know that it was due to AMD Dual Graphics and we have to disable it in order to play the game but i can;t find any option of disabling Dual Graphics
Then i downloaded the lasted AMD catalyst 14.7Beta but it was sated there that

• Starting with AMD Catalyst™ 14.6 Beta, AMD will no longer support Windows 8.0 (and the WDDM 1.2 driver)
• Windows 8.0 users should upgrade (for free) to Windows 8.1 to take advantage of the new features found in the AMD Catalyst 14.7 RC driver
• AMD Catalyst 14.4 will remain available for users who wish to remain on Windows 8
  • A future AMD Catalyst release will allow for the WDDM 1.1 (Windows 7 driver) to be installed under Windows 8.0 for those users unable to upgrade to Windows 8.1

so once again i thought to update my os and started the update through Windows Store
believe me it too 2 -3 hour aand then my latop got shutdown and when i booted it was resetting the laptop saying that their was some problem
i got this code error 0xc1900101 -0x20003
i tried calling hp customer care and they told me like silly things that even 6th grade student knows and was not at all helpful
Then i Downloaded 8.1 ISO file from internet and also tried installing it but again same error
I don't want to loose my file and genuine windows so that's why i don't want to clean install windows 8.1
any help shall be appreciated

Did you make sure that Windows Update were up to date before attempting to update to Windows 8.1?

yes of course i updated all of my softwares driversand all windows updates
