can i downgrade?

I'm using a virtual machine, so I'm not worried. But they stated clearly that if you want to undo Windows 8 Preview, you have to re-install your previous OS.

That is only true if you did an upgrade install of Win8. Not for a dual boot. For that you can use this procedure: Dual Boot - Delete a OS - Windows 7 Forums

Whoops, you're right, whs. Installing the 8 Preview version as your main OS is a risky move, because you'll have to re-install your previous OS if you don't like it. Using a partition or a virtual machine for this pre-beta OS is a better idea.

Damn right. But a few of our friends did an upgrade install and now they are scrambling. The clever operator makes an image of his Win7 installation before destroying it, but some blue eyed operators did not even do that. Fortunately there is this site from where you can get an iso for Win7. But the guys that came from Vista are out of luck because there is no Vista iso on the web.

How much did you use Vista yourself.

whs, I had run a Vista thread on another forum. I was a strong supporter of Windows 95 when others were fighting for DOS. I was an early and successful user of Internet Explorer when others were defending Netscape. I never had a bit of trouble with Windows ME. I was the first person I knew to own a computer with a Pentium chip. I bought Windows 98 the day it came out and never had trouble with it. I do not know of anyone else on the web who was advising people to go to free anti-virus programs before I was giving that advice.

And I was one of the first people on the web to advise folks not to buy Windows Vista. Granted, Vista IS better than XP if you have a powerful computer, but 7 is better still.

And I am using humor. After all, the poor souls who own Vista need some cheering up.

Vince, you are a funny guy. I am glad you liked Vista. And let those poor souls with flimsy systems stay on XP. But /8 will be the best.

I just got rid of my last Vista, but never had the problems that people loved to report.....

....so I don't need cheering up on that front!

I never had any problems with ME And Vista either, especially once you turned off a few things running in the background.
