    1 second.

Highlight the partition you want and click Set Accessible. Done.

I think this would work with the right flash drive, one that Windows 8 thinks is a Disk rather than Removable.

This is a Kingston DataTraveler G4 16GB Flash USB 3.0. Windows sees it as a Removable drive. I tried to use this to create a Win8ToGo and it didn't work, wouldn't boot.

This is a SanDisk Extreme USB 3.0 16GB Flash USB 3.0. Windows sees it as a Basic Disk. I was able to create Win8ToGo on this one and it boot perfectly, giving me a portable Windows 8.1.1.

I don't have another to try or I'd see if I could create NTFS and FAT32 partitions on it then access both from Windows Explorer. I think it would work.

I have three SanDisk Cruzer Switch 8 GB USB flash drives. They all show up as fixed disks instead of removable. In disk management the options for Mark Partition active, Delete volume, etc are not greyed out like they are for my Kingston USB flash drives. That might be why I thought it was all doable in disk management. Looks like I'll have to do another edit of my other post.

Okay, I got the USB Device fully repaired and restored. I removed the NTFS partition, then used AOMEI to check for bad sectors. None found, then used Chkdsk tests, no errors.

I guess I will have to use Bootice for the Partition switching. Unless, I can get a "SanDisk Extreme USB 3.0 16GB Flash USB 3.0".

You say that if I partition that, Windows will recognize both partitions at the same time? If so, I will get one.

Also, I have a question about Bootice. How do I switch between Active Partitons? I do not know all of the terminology. The options are: "Process MBR", "Process PBR", "Parts Manage", and "Sector Edit". Which one would I click to switch?

I'm assuming Parts Manage, I'll have to test it out once I re-create the Partition.

Ugh, I think something is wrong with my USB. I tried to put my video files back on it, and I am getting speeds at 100 KB a second. I waited 30 minutes, still no improvement. Why all of a sudden is the speed so slow? I should have never tried this.

Could be a crap usb stick. It happens. Chkdsk says it is ok, so I don't know what else the problem is.

    Bootice is easy.

Select your usb stick in the dropdown ( It is probably there already ), click "Parts Manage", highlight the partition you want to access, click "Make Accessible".

It was $16.99, I thought it would be a good one. What USB's do you recommend? Right now i'm using a file recovery scanner on it, I lost one video while transferring. If it can't recover it, no big deal.

EDIT: Recovery Failed, and now unable to do anything with the device. Even a quick format just hangs.

Depends what you want to spend.

I have a 32gb lexar jumpdrive, which is pretty quick and was quite cheap. It does show as removable in windows.
