How many use W8 CP as their main OS?

    New member here.

I wanted to know how many of you use the CP as your main OS.

I want to use it as my main OS, but don't have the guts to do it I keep thinking I might run into a deal-breaker problem sooner or later. Do all of your programs work fine?

I mainly use my computer for internet (chrome), itunes, Lightroom & Photoshop, Office 2010.

I will keep it only in VM to learn it because one day I will have a PC to repair with Windows 8 as OS, personally I don't find it worth to replace my Windows 7 in all my PCs.

I dual boot with Windows 7 and use Windows 8 just for testing my hardware and software. I would not recommend using it as my only OS. Still got some bugs, but that is why it is a preview.

Until there's an effective way to remove Metro and all the other unnecessary paraphernalia, I will confine the client OS to a VM. I am. however, running Server 8 Beta on bare metal and it's running very nicely, with several roles defined.

    Windows 8 CP 64-bit

I am using 8 CP as my main OS on my desktop. (no virtualization, straight clean install from a fresh pc build) It's not my only pc but it's becoming my main PC because it works very well. The more I use it, the more I like it.

I use Windows 7 as my main OS but have Windows 8 CP in a triple-boot along with Ubuntu. As not all of my software is compatible with Windows 8 I find it easier to just use Windows 7 until all the compatibility issues are fixed.

I can't use W8 CP, as my main OS, because it refuses to install my sound driver properly (no music or video).

I suppose I could use W8 DP, since everything works in that version (including the "Start Menu").

Main OS since it came out. No reason not to. Easily the fastest of 7, OSX and Ubuntu I've run on my Q6600 OC to 3.2GHz. No reason for an i5 now that 8 is here. Makes my MacBook Pro i7 look like it's stuck in the mud. Thanks MS for giving my 4 year old computer another few years of top-end performance. As for Metro -- I IGNORE it.

The only reason that I maintain my dual boot with 7 is because I have like 25 games installed there, and many will not start in Win8 saying the registry entries are not available.

Other than that ZoneAlarm is not ready for 8 yet and I rely heavily on it. I can use the Windows Firewall to have the same exact functionality (and do), but it is still not the same.

Thumbs up for Win 8 reliability and usability - whether you like Metro or not is another issue separate from this thread's intent.

(Edit: lol Baarod - no implications here to your post. We've made them at nearly the same time. )

I was planning to use Win 8 as my main system but starting to set it up I realized that what I was trying to do with it was to see how much I could make it look and work like my Windows 7. So now dual boot with Windows 7 as main system but still able to boot to Win 8 and will remain this way uintil I see the Start Menu back so it looks like Windows 7 the same way the Developer edition of Windows 8 would allow.
There are issues with Windows 8 that I have not been able to resolve such as unable to get Paperport to recognize my scanner even though it works just fine in Windows 7. I also remain confused with Explorer 10 and some of the strange happenings when trying to print for example.
So net is that Windows 7 works and it is too big a task to make Windows 8 look like Windows 7 and that leaves me as a strong supporter of 7 and in impatient mode about Windows 8.
