Rebooting problems with W8.1 after PC left unattended

If I leave my W8.1 PC unattended for even a short while, I find I have to push reset button to get it going again.
The taskbar experiences changes in that desktop apps will not work, whereas metro apps will work. The only solution I've found so far is the reset button. This occurs often during any given day.

Hi,
Thanks for your suggestion, I'll certainly give it a try.
I have been experiencing this problem for some weeks now and as you may understand, I have spent many hours on the internet for ways to fix it.
I have seen, more than a few times, suggestions from other people that W8.1 has quite a few bugs and that this is one of them.
Contact with Microsoft was quite unsatisfactory.
Regards,

I suggest a reinstall of the OS.

Then when things are running good get Macrium Reflect {free or paid version} & make a system image of all your local drives on usb.

My computer went crazy this morning.
I don't know why.

I restored it in 22 minutes with my system image. :)
Everything is good once again.

Macrium is a life saver. :)
