I just authored a DVD from Windows 7 today and popped it into a laptop I just installed Windows 8 on. I uninstalled the Video and Music app since they're kind of a bug on a mouse and keyboard setup. The little metro popup came up on the top left side of the screen, and it asked if I want to play this DVD, and the player, by default, was Windows Media Center. I found this odd considering before, in 7 and vista and even xp, Windows Media Player was the default media player.

I wonder by the next release, probably the Release Candidate, we might see a new Media Center!

But to stipulate, this is just a random thought I had about this, not something I can back up...

Interesting they should be updating both the media player and the media center it's been a while. They need updating big time and they need to work on the media player maybe bring some zune software elements. I hope they make both media player and center smoother and faster like how they made windows 8 that is one thing that bugged me about media player, media center and zune they all felt so sluggish.

Yeah, hopefully they improve WMP and WMC, make it faster and smoother plus less prone to bugs.

I really just want them to make a single damn unified media player/library. WMP, WMC, Zune, it's too much.
