Windows 8 gremlins

Ok, for what it is worth, my laptop had a blue screen today in Win8 during a meeting. I used Windbg and it seems to think that problem is with athrx.sys. This would be my wireless driver. Over the past few days, I had been having trouble with connectivity. Just yesterday I rolled back the driver (it had recently updated). I will try updating again to the Qualcomm Atheros driver that was released on the 16th. Hopefully, I won't have the same issues with it again...

Cool deal. This is where I always show people to get Atheros drivers and I've never had any issue at all:

ATHEROS drivers for Microsoft Windows (Atheros?????)

If you installed any kind of 3rd party security program, that could be causing the failure in athrx.sys.

I updated again to the latest qualcomm drivers provided by Windows Update. However, later that evening, I was watching an episode of Top Gear on Netflix and the thing froze again, just like old times.....

My only gremlin is when moving files around in large batches, usually over a LAN. 20-30 GB in several open transfer windows will get my computer to hang up, and I have to push the reset button. I am NOT using MS explorer to move my files but the built in one in Directory Opus. I will send them a message and check out their forums.

Heh, I finally have a way to freeze my computer EVERY TIME. There are programs by the CPUID folks, CPU-Z and HWmonitor (along with AIDA64). When I run it, it takes a long time to update and eventually the computer freezes. The cursor still works but I cannot click on anything. Cntrl-Alt-Del will work but I cannot click on anything. Only way out is to reset.

Same laptop, and I'm having the same problems... random freezes for no particular reason. My chipset drivers are updated, and graphics too. Where am I going wrong?

At this point, I'm pretty much just waiting for the release of the RTM build. Hopefully they will have fixed it by then...

I hope they are (or will become) aware of the problem!
I'm not so sure we're that many 'XPS 1340'-owners with W8 out there...

I don't mind having a "fresh" look over things if one or both of your guys want to run the tool in the top thread of the Crashes subforum then post the zip here. Unlikely I'll see anything new, but it isn't going to hurt none either besides a few minutes of time.
