    Media Player can't find files.

I think someone gave me some bad advice. My "c" drive is starting to get full mostly because of a very large music collection. My friend said"simple, just put everything on "d". I think I should have gotten an external drive. Anyhow, now when I go to listen to a playlist song on media player, I get blue dots with an "i"in them and a message saying that the media player can't find the file. I tried changing the file location for the media player to"d"drive, but it would not let me (suggestion from same friend who said "mine works fine in "d" drive. Should I move everything back or get an external drive or is there a way to make this work. Asus Notebook a45x ,Windows 8,Media player version unknown.

The playlists are probably pointing to the location on C:. You need to modify them to point to the D: location or build new playlists.

    They are usually in C:\Users\<youraccountname>\Music\Playlists

You can edit them with Notepad.

Or create new ones via File, Crate Playlist.

Hi 'smogdawg', welcome to Windows EightForums!

Open WMP, click on 'Organize▼' on the menu bar, 'Manage libraries►', 'Music' then navigate to the appropriate folder and include it in the Music Library.

    Much better solution

Just tried it through my network to another computer and it works that way too.

    Media player can't find files.

Thanks ! both solutions work and a smarter friend suggested-"just open "d" drive, pick tune, and media player will play it". This works too. It is weird that my I-tunes will pick up were the music is, but media player 12(found it) won't unless you do the solutions. Thanks again.Problem solved.
