Kernel-General Error, Event ID 6; happens every boot.

i recently noticed that this error was popping up every time the pc was booting up. it happens only once (right when the PC boots into windows) but, event viewer shows that it has also happened multiple times throughout the day.

is this something that can affect the performance of my PC? i've been noticing odd hiccups/glitches randomly and was wondering if it's something i should try and get rid of.

    thanks

See if you can force a system crash using the link below. Perhaps you have some old driver. You should also make sure you have installed all updates with Windows Update in Control Panel.

Windows feature lets you generate a memory dump file by using the keyboard

no luck on generating a memory dump file and updated windows yesterday.

this is the error: Event ID: 6 Source: Kernel-General

except mine just ends with "...hive (file): ." instead of a directory of some sort

I am confused. Your link is to EVENTID dot NET. If you can produce a dump you should have a file called MEMORY.dmp in your Windows directory. You do not have to look elsewhere on the internet as it is your PC. It is after all your PC with the issue.

i wasn't able to produce a dump with the steps provided in the link and the only files that i found in the windows directory were from a few months ago.

the link i provided is the same error i am receiving and was hoping it would be of some help.
